As we become more GIVING, we become more like CHRIST! :)
Hi all!
First time blogging on our very own cg blog! Hee.. :P Just wanna share smth with you all. Actually, Pam asked me to put it down on blog one.. :P
As some of you know, I'm serving in Children's Church. I've been serving in Children's Church for about 2.5 years now and, it is my 1st ministry. My visitation leaders have been asking me where do I see myself in Children's Church. They have faith in me to rise up as a visitation leader and they believe in me that I can do so much more. But I wasn't sure myself because of a few factors. Firstly, I didn't really choose to join Children's Church. If I don't remember wrongly, my cg members felt that this is the ministry for me, and during CCH recruitment, they made sure I sign up before I leave hall 8. Haha. Also, my cgl see me in the children's ministry and encouraged me to join. During one of the cg meetings, I remember my cgl got us to pair up and prophesy for one another. My friend (then cg member) said she saw me with one hand holding a lamp (which represents the Word of God) and another hand holding on to the kid's hand, and there are children following me behind. Other than this vision my friend saw, I don't really have a vision or hear from God directly to be in the children's ministry or rising up as a visitation leader. However, I remember telling God that if I were to choose, I would choose to work with children. At that time, I was re-taking my A-level as a private candidate (that's before I came to church). I was thinking about what I want to do with my life. Aw, to cut the long story short, I see the children's ministry as the prevention stage. I thought that while they are still young, I hope that the children will have as healthy a childhood as possible and if they are taught the right things, they will grow up to be less problematic and stronger and healthier (in terms of self-esteem too, emotionally not just physically healthy). These are the 2 things I held on to at times when I felt like giving up in ministry.
Recently, my visitation leader, also my zone supervisor in CCH told me he has plans to sign me up for a training class (to become leader in CCH, the one tt shuzhen is attending now). I started to consider if this is where I really want to go and if this is where God has placed me in. Sometimes, I also feel that I'm not good enough. The 2.5years in this ministry has not been an easy journey for me, and I wonder if this is really where God has placed me in. Also, it'll definitely take up more of my time. Since this semester started in October, I've really been enjoying school and the subjects that I'm studying. I enjoy all that I'm studying in school and really enjoy school alot. :) And I really hope I can do well this semester, not just mediocre grades. Sometimes, it can be tiring too. Rushing assingments, projects, report, essays, tests, presentations, especially when 3 of them clash on the same day! At times like this, sometimes I wished I don't need to do visitation. Last week was one instance like this. I was sick on Monday and Tuesday. On Wed afternoon, after taking my medicine, I felt drowsy halfway through the lecture. So right after lecture when school ended, I went home and slept. Thought I would sleep long, but only 3 hours. And I didn't sleep after I woke up at 8plus at night. I did my assignment at night and went for my 8am class at about 6.45am. I had a test on thursday and I was very nervous about it though it's an open book test. Really want to score. AFter the test, felt very drained. Wished I don't have to do visitation. But went nonetheless cos if I don't go, no one will visit the kids! HOw can?!
I met Paul cos he passed me the flyers as my visitation leader was not able to make it. He was very nice and asked me to stop at about 8.30pm cos I'm a girl and visiting alone. Also, the place is quite quiet. But I visited till 10pm cos I really wanted to visit all the children, everyone of them. On my way home, I was still thinking about the challenge of becoming a visitation leader and if this is where I really want to go. I realised that I really enjoy spending time with the children. Then, a thought came to my mind, that this church is built on the sacrifices of its people. Where the church is today is because of the sacrifices that the people have made in the past. People in the past have laid down their lives for others. Then I thought I want to do the same too, for the future generation!(and I was thinking of our new stadium in my mind) I told God that I want to do the same too! Then I remembered somewhere in the bible it says, "
Jesus has laid down His life for us, so we also ought to lay down our lives for one another." And giving my time is a form of laying down my life for others. Because my life is basically made up of the amount of time I'm given and what i do with my time. So I thought I want to give more of my time for others and be more giving like Jesus. I told God that I want to be more giving and I want to become more like Jesus. :) When I'm more giving, I become more like Christ. :) Care more for others and be less self-centered.
Growing stronger, Loving deeper,
Zoeeeeeeeeeeeeee
To Pam:
Also wanna take this opportunity to tell you that, I don't know why, but after our 1st service together as a cg, as I was walking to CCH, I felt privleged and honoured that you are my cgl. Just wanna say "thank you" for the sacrifices that you have made. :) Love ya! Love n440! :)
